So brilliant. I just adore him.

Did you see him on SNL? I don't usually watch it, but I tuned in for him. He made everyone else look like cardboard cutouts. Not only did he have about 1000% more presence, but he knew more about comedic timing and improvising in live theater. It was just phenomenal.

Oh, dear, they were both having way too much fun with that. "Sir Ian, Sir Ian, Sir Ian, WIZARD: 'YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!', Sir Ian, Sir Ian."

But here's the odd thing: he sounded so much more like Gandalf wheb he was being Sir Ian than when he was being Wizard. Don't you think?

Me, I blame the director. And I mourn what might have been.

Oh! It's EXTRAS! I want to see that series so badly; I think the first year is available on DVD now.

I wonder if his SNL appearance is somewhere on YouTube....

His impersonation of Maggie Smith was one of the highlights, but it was all great. Like a lot of really smart people, he's amazingly funny. He's got such a great face, too, which means he can be dry, or he can ham it up.

It would ruin the illusion that you are in fact pretending to be writers, and the audience would see you all for what you truly are...authors. XD

Funny - when I tried to quote the line from memory, it came out, "There will be no BOOKS on the night!" And true it is that in theatre scripts are often referred to as "books" (as in: "I want everyone off book by the third week") . . . but still . . . It would have been much funnier, too.

That man cracks me up. XD Show yourself off. Why act when the original is good enough?
